Borri Emergency Central Systems have been designed in compliance to the international EN 50171 Standards, supplying uninterrupted quality power to emergency and safety installations, such as emergency lighting, automatic fire detection and extinguishing equipment, smoke extraction systems, carbon monoxide warning systems, paging systems, signaling safety installations and special safety installations related to high-risk areas.
Safety systems, such as emergency lighting, can be connected either to a distributed power supply or to a CPSS (Central Power Supply System). Installing a CPSS instead of a distributed power supply results in a less complex electrical design, whilst reducing the maintenance costs.
When a UPS is used as a CPSS it will need to meet both the Product Standard IEC/EN 62040 and the EN 50171 Standard – Central Power Supply Systems. The EN 50171 Standard comprises a list of applications where a CPSS can be used, specifying the technical features of a UPS to be used as a CPSS and including the system testing requirements.
